About This Project

Our Design team is getting more involved in app design, so we held an "iOS Hackathon" to jump in and get the team immersed in the challenges around designing an app. This was a 4 hour challenge with the goal to finish a simple presentation-style prototype.

My Role

My group consisted of a UX Prototyper, our Creative Director, our Lead Visual Designer, and myself. I did most of the whiteboard sketching and ideating, as well as laying out the "Places" screens in the paper prototype.

Ideation

My group's assigned app idea was "An office worker who feels tired and wants a pick-me-up needs to find premium treats quickly because they have limited time." I lead the team through rounds of defining the design requirements, goals, capabilities, assumptions, and challenges.

Wireframing

Once we understood the basic direction of our app, I moved into sketches and wire framing. The team went through a few different rounds of what should be in the app and what pages were needed. This is a picture of one version I drew up, which was pretty close to what we "built."

Paper Prototype

Once I felt comfortable that we had a good idea what we wanted the basic design of our app to be, we moved into prototyping. Given the extreme time challenge of this exercise, we put together a "paper prototype" using a Keynote template (available as a PDF by clicking the above image), but the next version would be done in Principle.
